BMW plans to mass produce electric motorcycles C Evolution

BMW plans to mass produce electric motorcycles C Evolution which has been heavily promoted and tested in various events in Europe, including at the 2012 Olympics in London.

C Evolution is powered by a liquid-cooled permanent magnet motors, with an output of 15 horsepower. However, the maximum speed of the motor is barely any noise is limited electronically to 120 km per hour.

The ability to accelerate from 0-100 km / h can be achieved in a claimed 6.2 seconds, according to BMW is equivalent to a 600cc petrol scooter skills.

Evolution is the driving force C batteries 8 kWh lithium-ion battery, and can be fully charged from empty condition within four hours, with a 220 V power socket and current home 12 Ampere (or can be filled within three hours of electricity use 220v/16A).

This battery can take the motor a distance of 100 miles before recharging stun again.

C Evolution offers a choice of four driving. Road Mode means that the motor can accelerate full, recycle energy when braking. Eco Pro mode acceleration limit but add mileage 10% -20%. Sail Mode minimizes energy regeneration when the motorcycle slid without drawing gas. Dinamyc combines full acceleration mode with energy recycling.

Battery box is a major component in the chassis. The large size of the batteries also add weight to the bike significantly, heavier than gasoline motors and C650GT BMW C600 Sport.

Steel pipe under the handlebars directly connected to the battery box on the front and the ith swing (swing-arm) behind the single.

As with other BMW motorcycles, C Evolution using tech brake anti-lock braking system (ABS). This bike also features traction control so as not to slip when cornering fast.

VESPA 946

Back from the future

Unique as the year in which it was born, 2013. The essentiality of the design endows even the most impersonal function with style and individuality. The Vespa 946 is a pure expression of a style synonymous, in the minds of millions of travellers and devotees, with freedom of movement and expression. A far-sighted projection of sustainable mobility, whose form and substance crystallise the fundamental aesthetic and dynamic values of the history of the two-wheeler.

Made for distinction

The Vespa 946 is made to man’s measure. And to the measure of the universe. Low consumption and reduced emissions. Fully digital instrumentation.A throbbing technological heart, perfect for long distances and city travel.Superior construction quality to make it a winner on every road, the means to reach every destination.

ECO-SUSTAINABLE BY VOCATION

The way to guard against imitations is to look beyond the immediate future. The Vespa 946 has ABS braking and ASR traction control. The 4-stroke 125 cc monocylinder engine is a response to requirements that may still be nascent. And it guarantees the best performance in its category. Electronic injection, three-valve distribution, reduced friction and improved fluid dynamics sharply reduce consumptionand emissions, establishing a new benchmark over and beyond current regulations.

CONCEIVED THROUGH PASSION

Real luxury is realising a more ambitious and fascinating dream every day. Today the Vespa 946 re-affirms its legend. It enhances the classical values of tradition: the shape of the handlebar, the proportions of the fairing, the plunging curves of the saddle all come from the earliest drawings. Every detail reflects a choice and a reference to Italian-style production. A craftsman’s approach in a futuristic dimension.

Electric scooter with iPhone connection unveiled

Terra Motors Corp. unveiled Wednesday an electric scooter that can be linked to an iPhone to display driving information, with an eye to emerging markets.
Mass production, the first of its kind for bikes with a smartphone connection, will begin in December in Vietnam for global sales starting the same month, the Tokyo-based start-up said.
“What people in the middle class in emerging nations want to buy is motorbikes and smartphones,” Toru Tokushige, president and founder of Terra Motors, told reporters.
The demand for electric scooters is especially strong in other parts of Asia due to serious air pollution and rising gasoline prices.

The screen of an iPhone mounted in the dash of the white scooter with a blue stripe can display such information as power consumption, charge remaining, average speed and mileage. Other free downloadable applications — at the beta stage — assist in navigation or recommend roadside stops.
Terra Motors aims to sell 2,000 units of the A4000i, which is priced at about ¥450,000. A model without the iPhone connection function, the A4000, will be sold for less from next year.
The scooter has an average range of about 65 km and its removable lithium-ion battery can last up to 50,000 km. The battery can be fully charged in about 4.5 hours.
Terra Motors aims to sell 100,000 electric scooters worldwide, including an older model, by the end of 2015, Tokushige said.
Founded by Tokushige in 2010, Terra Motors develops, manufactures and markets electric scooters.

Vespa 98 Among the 12 Best Industrial Designs of the 20th Century

A study carried out by CNN has shown the Vespa 98 as one of the best industrial designs of the 20th century.

detail berita

Even though there are many fellows out there who would never like to be seen riding a Vespa, we have to be honest and admit the iconic scooter is one of the major trend-setters in the two-wheeled industry.

Given the amazing popularity of the Vespa scooters and their reliable build, we got to see them in motion pictures, copied and sold in pretty much any country around the globe, and this contributed to enhance the profound impact this vehicle had on culture and society.

Speaking with CNN about the Vespa, the Italian designer Gianfranco Zaccai added: "Vespa's unisex design is genius: both men in suits and women in skirts can travel elegantly." The other 11 winners of the category are: Apple Macintosh, the escalator, the Virgin Galactic Space Plane, the AK-47 machine gun, the floppy disc, the iPod, the Aeron chair, the 1979 Bang & Olufsen stereo system, the Airbus A380, Ford Model T and the jet engine.

Vectrix VX-1 Li/Li+ “e-Scooter of the Year 2012”

Recharging is easy. Just open up the seat cover and pull out the 3 meter/10 foot braided steel cord, close the seat, and plug the cord into a standard 220V/110V outlet. That’s it. Within two hours you’ll get 80% of your total range back. Total “zero-to-full” charging times are up to four hours for the Li configuration and six hours for the Li+. Think of how many outlets you have at home, work, shopping and everywhere in between. Since the VECTRIX VX-1 Li/Li+ batteries are zero memory, you can “ top them off” at any point, giving you peace of mind no matter where you roam. And back.

Key Features of the VECTRIX VX-1 Li/Li+:
  • All-electric with zero gas emissions—no need for oil or gas, and virtually silent operation.Plugs into any220V/110V standard outlet and charges battery up to 80% capacity in 2.5 hours.
  • Powerful and fast—Rapidly accelerates to a top speed of 110 km/h (68 mph). Zero to 80 km/h (0-50 mph) in as little as 6.0 seconds.
  • Range up to 136 km (85 miles) on a single charge, battery pack energy density and Vectrix unique patented regenerative braking/throttle technology.
  • Superior handling due to a low center of gravity, quality components, and even weight distribution.
  • Low Maintenance—with no oil, no filters, and no clutch - your cost of ownership is minimal.
  • Patented VECTRIXTM Multi-Function Throttle provides regenerative braking to maximize range possibilities and a slow-speed reverse for greater maneuverability and easy parking
  • Patented VECTRIXTM Integrated rear-wheel mounted single stage planetary gear drive.
  • Low noise for reduced sound pollution
scooter of the year 2012

¹ Speeds and range vary based upon factors like riding conditions and operating style.

Vespa Racing ESC Mirecourt Frankreich

Biggest classic vespa race ever !

FlyerCSMirecourt2013HD
Mirecourt, France, ESC 2013 season opening and 13th Challenge Scootentole, 155 drivers decided to write history !
All categories was reasonably packed for fair action and good fun !
Most people arrived on Thursday while some hard-core drivers took advantage of the privileged relationship we have with the circuit of Mirecourt to arrive as soon as Wednesday !! Thursday and Friday, the track was available for practice. Unfortunately this is on that day that we had a big accident seeing a driver breaking is leg. Season did not even start for him… Too bad ! The weather was cold, changing with a bit of rain from time to time.
On the next day, Saturday the day of the actual Challenge Scootentole, we arbitrary splited the two C2S qualification sessions in the morning in order to even chances for a good time.
vespa-racing_mirecourt-02 vespa-racing_mirecourt-04
From there, everything went very smoothly and we could see beautiful and fair racing, well helped by the weather; it actually did not rain during any of the sessions, only at lunch break !! With little surprise, the usual masters of the track trusted the first places in K1 and K2, but new comers are starting to push hard, like the young Romain Baguet from Team 70s scooter who finished 3rd in K4 and 1st in K5 ! The K7 category, girlz power, driving with the K6 and the slowest of the K5, the grid was filled up with 13 girls, a very promising number for the rest of the season !
It should be mentioned that every year the level of preparation and the quality of all scooters is improving. This was still true in 2013, with beautiful teams and scooter that actually looks like scooters (cuts are restricted to a minimum in the Challenge Scootentole).
vespa-racing_mirecourt-03 vespa-racing_mirecourt-01
On the oddities side, it was interesting to see in action in K2 the French V5A frame #216 from Julien Desnuelle, driven by Olivier Doussot (both from SPRT team ) the first racing vespa fitted with an electronic injection (Keep an eye on it: Vespa Tuning M1L Quattrini Vespa without Carb ) !
We also saw an official LML 4T Corsa (166 Polini) in demonstration in the K6/K8 sessions. Not so fast as expected, but some people seemed very interested by the potential of the tubular chassis…
During the award ceremony and lucky draw we could hand-over some very nice gifts and presents thanks to our sponsors, and especially Scooter Center!
After that, helped with a little “apero”, most of the people started to relax and the party lasted long on the campsite until very late !
On the next and finale day, Sunday, after a well deserved “croissant” offered by the Challenge Scootentole, all people slowly started to pack and to head home, bringing with them plenty of great souvenirs !
The Challenge Scootentole would like to thank again Scooter Center for their continuous support !
We will be waiting for you on the 8th of June in Marcillat for the 14th Challenge Scootentole
